    All these unknown surposed targets.

Very risky to say the least. Let's hope we don't do an Ipswich.

Was thinking the exact same thing. Ok we've got ftp issues, but we better be lucky with our signings or we're bang in trouble!

If we buy loads of promising 20-22 year olds and we go down we'll be in great shape to bounce straight back. Theres no shame on League One football. But I do believe they'll bring in experience on loan to balance the squad.

All the known ones available are either out of our price range or not a lot of good !
I'm not too sure about these Scottish links seems to be putting all our eggs in one basket and it's not as if Scotland is an oasis of football talent is it ??
Is it now the case of another shift in policy , that the manager makes the signings ? baring in mind the Prenrice signings were good or at worse decent

That's what we all hope. But as I say, Ipswich tried something similar and that didn't end too well. They have to get it right as no signings or loans after start of season until January unlike last season where we brought in loans after losing first 4 games.

Norwich brought in a load of unknowns and Tim Krul.

Just got to trust an experienced manager IMO

The thing is, Ipswich thought they were getting astute signings

                It’s hell ass risky
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

Ipswich sacked McCarthy. That's what relegated them imo.

Post that on Sunderland fans site! League one no walk in the park hoping bizarrely that we have a mediocre Holloway type season

But it wasn't McCarthy who signed all the lower league players. It was Paul Hurst who was sacked after a few months.

Yes. But the point of unknown signings came from Paul Hurst which is my point

Im hoping the link to Adam Matthews at Sunderland has some legs. Solid enough defender who has had spells at Cardiff and Bristol in this league and available on a free.
