Lets be honest he is only pointing out the reality of our dire situation which is self inflicted and will eventually result in relegation as no manager worth his salt would come in when we need to cut the wage bill by 50%. We have a group of youngsters who are promising but will need support and experience around them as well as a good coach/manager which again does not come cheap.

Cutting wage bill by 50%.....? Is that your assumption of the situation or has this 50% been mentioned by someone at the club?

If we stop the wage bill 50% then we truly are in trouble. Yes, we have some youngsters to come in but we need some experienced free transfer signings to play alongside them. My assumption was that the money from any players sales would subsidise our budget overspend for a few seasons. Surely we'd get £10-12m for Freeman, Luongo, Lumley and Leisner

Talk is wage bill to be cut to around 11 million a year from 25 million this year so over 50%. Not exactly appealing to an experienced manager.

For a 22 first team squad thats an average of £9.6k a week per player. So the range will be £6k - £13k per week.

It will be tough to keep a team in the championship on that budget unless we've already targeted we very good L1/2 or foreign players.

I'm sure Tim Sheerwood would want big money, so he's out. Looks like its Bircham's for the taking as I'm sure his wage demands would be within budget.

IF that’s the case, it would still be the case due to having to comply with the FL’s profit and sustainability (FFP) rules. Therefore doesn’t matter one jot how rich the owners are as they cannot spend willy nilly (immaterial what has gone on previously as we have been rogered for that). Truth is we have rich owners who cannot spend even if they wanted to, that would be the case if any new rich owners were to come in. The fact that we are skint is due to our limited income streams that will nor change for the foreseeable

Might bring us a slice of luck and stop the players loafing around

Mail on Sunday says Warburton has been interviewed for a 2nd time. As for wages, clubs like Brentford, Preston and Millwall have all sniffed about play-offs in recent years.... I reckon there's no reason you can't build a decent squad paying wages in the £5-£10K range. Frankly, every time we've waved the cheque book about its ended in disaster - a paupers budget might do us good in the long run.

He may be ok long term but can't expect much next season whoever gets it even the thickest must now realise all the managers can't be wrong .
Warburton left Brentford cos he wouldn't work under a d o f wonder they are thinking of another change and it's now Les's turn to carry the can
