Apologies if this has been posted before, haven't been online for a few days, but was told on Tuesday night that the reason we sold Routledge was that there was a clause in the contract that we had to to pay Villa an additional £1m after 50 appearances for us and he was up to 48. I was also told the fee from Newcastle was £1.75m.

I have been saying this for a few weeks now, I thought he was up to 49 apperances but either way it makes sense.

I'd be amazed, I think Wayne wanted out and I'd imagine has had quite a considerable pay rise.

Plus playing at St James Park week in week out must of been quite hard to turn down.

I think in the end it was a good deal for both parties although as a fan i'm gutted i cant watch Wayne in the hoops he was a terrific player for us in the short space of time that we had him.

Must admit though not playing Radek Cerny makes me wonder if he has some sort of appearance clause in his contract.

What is not believable about this, its precisly the sort of thing we have come to expect from this club and our 'Former' DoF skills at contract negotiations.

I dont think for one minute that Wayne Routledge would of been give a deal by the club that would have risen by 1 million quid after such a small amount of games.

Having said that I'm hardly going to change your opinion and quite frankly have no desire to get into a tit for tat style debate on this board over the ins and outs of Waynes contract that only a few people would of been privvy to in any case.

So much of whats been written over the past few days is just full of spite and venom regading Gianni.

Anyone that has an alternative view is brandsed the enemy which is unfair.

Everyone wants whats best for the club, if GP has resignened good luck to him for the future it's probably best all round at the moment and no one deserves the kind of on line cyber kick in that the guy gets daily.

He actually had a clause in his contract if a bigger club came in he had the option to talkt to them. How anyone in their right mind could blame him. I can think of 10 pro things why a player would leave QPR to go to Newcastle and nothing to keep him at Rangers.

Incorrect !!

The fee was going to RISE to £ 1 m NOT an additional million

We only paid £ 600,00 for him in the first place.

PLUS there was a 'release ' clause in his Contract any club matching our valuation of £ 1.5 m then he was free to talk to them . Unfortunately thats the way deals are set up these days so a Contract means Jack S...t!!

Only passing on what I was told, the guy was wearing one of those staff passes so thought there might be an element of truth in it. Doubt the Board would want to pay out anything more given where we are in the table. I don't blame Wayne for wanting out either.

I'm not sure what Gianni's day to day role is at the club I'm normally at work when he.

Apparently someone said they saw him on the phone once but that coluld of been a lie.
