Question For the Older QPR Fans

its the same throughout football mate at the "higher level". Players come from all over the world now and have little knowledge of thier clubs fans/history/rivals.

Years ago a local derby would be played between local lads, most of who supported the club they played for.

Its defo different in the higher level of the game, but more like the good old days in the lower leagues

And the lack of testomonials these days shows how much players move around clubs during their career.

It was because of Stan Bowles,Gerry Francis,Rodney Marsh,and Don Givens that i started Supporting Qpr as a kid,these are still legends to me now,35 years on,im 43 by the way

I grew up in Shepherd's Bush and went to Loftus Road from the age of 4. It was a magical place with passion from the players and fans alike. If we played badly we collectively felt bad and yet we had no doubt the team had tried their best.

I don't get the same feeling these days. There is a distance between the players and us for many of the reasons already stated. Footballers have lost their passion, as for their soul, I give it 10 years. There are still a few who are connected and Ramage is one. For all the stick we give him, he genuinely shows passion and recognition for fans and football. Micky Leach was pilloried in my time and he is still one of my Ranger's heroes who made my boyhood something to remember. If we had decent management throughout the club and organisation then Ramage would flourish with his attitude. Unfortunately for him he is playing out of his time. A time of "me, me, me".

Not sure whether Rowlands has achieved legend status yet but has pulled on the shirt over 200 times for us. Some achievement in the modern game.

Think he will be remembered as a player who gave/gives (depending on status of current injury) his all for the club.

Are Bardsley, Waddock, Maddix and Simon Barker legends? He'd be in that category. IMO.

tbh the chant we want our rangers back wouldnt go a miss in the current circumstances.. its not aimed solely at the players but like i feel the heart n soul of QPR is gone.. its impossible to describe but going rangers now i just dont feel that buzz i used to

My Dad is 53 and thinks Taarabt is the best thing since Sir Les.

He couldn't care less about players such as Bircham, Gallen or Cook; he loves Flavio because he courts controversy and finds the shenanegins going on with the club at times hilarious and typically Rangers.

Personally I find the older generation far more tolerant than the 20-30yr olds.

as a 55 years old i am one of the oldest supporters here,i ws fist took to qpr in 1959-60 season a man who does use this board brian bedford played for us in the middle sixties and he will probabaly agree with me
that the great king of loftus road before rodney was mark lazarus,he could use fantastic ball skills when dribbling down the wing,he could also score goals
he got around 80 goals for us .
but the reason why the crowd loved lazarus so much was he was just the most amazing character you could ever meet
he had this broken nose from his boxing days,and when the ref used to look the other way, if a full back had been giving mark some violent tackles.He would unleash a few fast jabs ith his fists,then as the ref turned around mark would be crouching down beside the player, as if mortified as to why hes
laying there spark out.
In my time as a ranger,only stanley and rodney really
got the fans really fanatically behind them,strangley enough bobby hazell was the closest,to superstar status at the bush.a lot of people didnt really give bobby credit for his ability.
It broke my heart,when we sold him.but to go back to the origional theme of this thread,rodney marsh was the greatest ever qpr superhero.seconded by stanley,and third would be lazarus:boss:

they've change our badge,kit and mascot in months of arriving

we have no anchor man , no player to affiliate with
the players have clearly shown thru their arrogance their contempt of us fans, time and time again.

we have become a corporate club
look after the few and ignore the majority.

again my "faith" is questioned...

we bonded so much more when skint,worried and average but committed players giving 100%

50 years old and get grumpy.Feel football now is all about the money.

The board haven't helped themselves and 9 managers haven't really done much for the clubs stability.

Feel we have far too many average players in the squad and the club at the moments has the feeling of just getting by and drifting along going somewhere ...but very very slowly.

A lot of people i know 40ish take their kids to FB now.They might do the odd game at the team they support once /twice a year but are now going more reguarly to local sides.Mates i have go reg to watch Col U/Ipswich/Chelmsford/Orient/Braintree and Southend.They all support teams like Spuds/Hammers/CFC etc etc.Price is a factor but alot of them say its not so enjoyable at their teams nowdays?They are enjoying the smaller club experiences and the kids are as well .
IMO people may be fed up with franchise/polished fb and are liking a bit of gritt that they grew up with in the 70/80s.

For me Furlong is a legend.

When we were really sh*t Ollie brought us together again..players/fans/staff. Those were unique days...I think since we lost that..we've become disillusioned.

Sometimes, not all the time, just sometimes...i wish we were sh*t again and battling to get into the championship

don't have to be sh.t again to battle mate....players should play with pride anyway.
