He is someone with alot of experience and had the Scots playing some good football, with lets be honest a limited pool of players.

Gareth Southgate would be a good choice but as with everyone else British mentioned, don't think there's a cat in hells chance of him working with Briatore or Paladini.

If we must persist with the disaster that is the Director of Football position (now a proven disaster for 3 seasons and costing the club millions) it has to be a foreign coach.

Can't see a big name touching it with a bargepole - just too much ego to lose - unless they get written contractual clause that Briatore and Paladini back off in all team matters.

So - IMO - knowing the like of a cheap option and those who, for whatever reason, allow GP to force ridiculous, poor and unneeded signings on them, it will be Gallen and Ainsworth for the rest of the season and then the circus starts again in May. Groundhog Day. Innit.

I said this the other day and got accused of Paladini bashing!

Pete out of interest why do you feel this isn't the right sort of set up for Curbs or Coppell?

A big name won't come to us.

            How about John Collins?

He did well at Hibs, although he was a bit of a tinkerman there so maybe not.

Craig Levein is doing a good job at Dundee United although he had a bad time at Leicester.

Southgate might be one worth considering if we have patience with him to get things right.

Why even bother asking "What big name" when the owners have a proven track record of not getting a big name manager..... Dowie and Madge were certainly not on anybody's wish list when they came in and although Sousa was a big name in football, he had no management experience whatsoever!

If they want a name it has to be one with managenment experience this time round, ideally successful, and respected.

As for anyone suggesting southgate... blimey what planet are you from. Proven failure as a manager, no charisma whatsoever, and can you really see him giving the players a rollicking when it's needed... not me, he comes across wet behind the ears still!

Think that it is long overdue that the board just opened up their wallets and appointed a real top name manager.

All this talk of going for Southgate,Hart is an absolute joke. Our owners have a combined wealth that even the TOP TOP sides in England could only dream of. Another cheap, unemployed manager would clearly signal that they have NO intention of getting us promoted, and are more than happy to stay and flirt with the playoffs season after season.

Get Mancini in, because all the other names mentioned will all go down the same route as the others we have appointed.

The balls in your court QPR - I will be fuming if they do it on the cheap (again!).

It seems 'learning from your mistakes' is not part of the 4 year plan.

Regardless of history and the fact he took us down, i actually think he is the sort of person that would do well with this group of players. He would command utmost respect for a start and was a part of great sides so knows what it's all about.

BUT, again he is another who doesn't have good managerial experience. We need someone who's plied the trade recently (if not currently in a job).
