Most fans bood Mahon? I am not sure about that one. I did not and neither did most people around me and this is where much of the boos were emanating from.

Watson had a quiet match last night, but that's probably as he's missed so many matches recently. He'll be back to his best up at Wednesday. Mahon is an OK player, he'll be good backup, but a few decent performances this season doesn't mean he should come in ahead of the likes of Watson or Faurlin..

Agree. Watson was totally anonymous last night which was a real dissapointment, but blimey how match fit can he be.... Didn't play at Wigan, came to us for games and he's been sent off in 2 matches, one after only about 25mins and suspended for 3 matches.Originally posted by qblockpete View PostTroulbe is Watson and Hall need games, to come back into a demanding game like that, when you know Palace will be in your face is not easy.
.
Saying that, i still expected him to get himself involved more than he did, and you'd think he'd have been well up for it against his old team.

That is, yet again, evidence of his role being totally underestimated. It is because of the role he plays that he rarely gets credit for his performances. I can't remember how many times I posted last season that his part in the team, particularly away from home will never get him the attention or the admirers it warrants. He has no pace, doesn't do step overs, can take a man on and beat him, well I could go on and on - and that's why so few rate him - but his discipline as a holding player is excellent, his ability to see and make a simple pass is just as good and more than that, he does a big share of the work that allows his midfield partner to roam and create. This season his role is even bigger, doing those simple things because the midfield partner is Faulin, who really has the ability to create as above. No real surprise to me that Faulin is getting heaps of praise in the midfield because he has that extra ability - but take note of how much better he is with Mahon alongside him due to the invisible benefits that Mahon brings.Originally posted by New Cross R View PostWatson had a quiet match last night, but that's probably as he's missed so many matches recently. Back to the point, he would probably do a similar thing if he played alongside Watson who, although is a box to box worker, has the ability to play a similar role to Faulin. Mahon should be the key to our midfield, albeit obviously only in my very humble opinion.#standuptocancer

Watson had a bad game, but to be fair he has hardly played since the Swansea game.
Since when he was then banned, then came the international break, followed by 30 mins against Reading and another 2 game ban.
Yesterday sounded like another fast paced game.
Are some forgetting that he was excellent in his earlier games which included Newcastle and Cardiff? Games in which he and Rowlands completely dominated in midfield.

I agree with that still not convinced at this moment in time that Faurlin and Watson is our best centre midfield combo.Originally posted by Youvebeenrangered View PostThe game totally passed him by! He was as much of a spectater as i was!
Faurlin put in a good shift!!! Watson will need to seriously up his game against wednesday!
Thing is Watson needs a consistent run of games in the team as well so yes he does seriously need to up his game in the up and coming fixtures.
