Yeah mate. Friend of mine posted this tribute to him this morning.


THE REASON I SUPPORT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR...We were related via marriage as his Uncle married my dad's sister and we went to the same school. and also supported Spurs. a As a young boy, we would visit his family regularly and lived not far from each other in Stonebridge. I was extremely close to his younger brother Dave who went on to also be a pro footballer and sister Denise as we went through primary school together.. Humble as a young man and inspirational to EVERY black sportsman.. RIP CYRILLE REGIS.. You WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED! ###

I seem to recall we tried to buy him off them on at least 3 occasions. It was almost an annual enquiry.

He was a total beast of a player. I was absolutely bricking it before the 82 semi final but early on there was a big high ball hoofed up towards Big Cyrille and Bob Hazell soared above him and headed it clear...... joyous roar that went up from the Rs fan nearly took roof off the North Bank. To this day that moment is etched in my memory - fitting it features Cyrille, he was so totemic of that era. RIP big man.

I went by coach run by the Springbok. On route we passed the WBA coach in traffic. They looked very nervous. Thankfully Cyrille and his team mates never turned up that afternoon. A great player and a gentleman. Rest in Peace

Was a real shock hearing this. Was a proper big strong centre forward who’d take no #### off anyone

We spotted him in South Africa Rd one night game doing a bit of scouting had a bit of crack with him he was sound.

Very good centre forward and seemed like a well liked bloke. Best wishes to his family and the clubs he served during his career.

Sorry mate I read crack. No rip and I remember him well Also done a massive amount to help black footballers, always ignored the stick and acted as a total professional. Sorry vesps I wasn't sure if he ment woman or drugs

GReat recollection o Cyrille Regis was 82 semi final at Highbury when he and big Bob were paired against each other, if my recollection is correct some idiot through a banana onto the pitch as we defended a corner, Regis picked it up and he peeled it and him and Bob ate it, and remember him saying that the idiots who do these things just spur him on to do better and change people’s attitudes, a true trailblazer and role model and inspiration RIP Cyrille
