wheeler has looked good when hes played, gets around well, good in the air and is a poacher in the box. he scored 21 for exeter last season from the wing. no idea why hes not starting or at least getting a decent chance on the pitch rather than 5 minutes like yesterday. would love to see him and sylla up front
One f the reasons why we question Ollie's ability as a manager and his tactical awareness/ability etc. Selecting Mackie to start ahead of him is one thing, to then bring on Washington to play for the last few minutes of the 1st half and all of the second was dreadful. Baffling beyond belief.

Youre right stanis, but i suppose we still did better than your correct predictions of two defeats at sunderland & bolton

I gotta say, when I saw that sub I was completely baffled. Wheeler should have got that chance. Incidentally, why was Manning subbed? Picked up a knock?

Clearly that would be idiotic (but sadly par for the course from a small minority). He would need a run of 5 or 6 starts to prove his worth - but that's basic common sense really.

But after all, how many minutes did he need up at Boro to prove his goalscoring prowess, before promptly being dropped? Just two in fact.

I was going to say 10 games mate to be honest, it's a big step up from League 2. One things for sure, he needs to be given more of a chance.

Mate Gladwin was given more than enough games, he was just awful.

Done nothing on the pitch, but has bleached his hair blonde and now looks a bit like a kid from a crap boy band! Missed a sitter in the 90th minute last weekend apparently.

Let's just call it what it is. Gladwin was a makeweight in the Luongo deal, and wasn't good enough for the Championship. I'm not condoning the way the fans made it so difficult for him at Loftus Road. But let's not pretend that he was in anyway a top talent who wasn't given enough time. Guy wasn't good enough.

Some fans are thick on their treatment of young players. Look at the stick Furlong got playing against Sanchez and Bolasie. It's universal tho.

Gotta differentiate between a youth player coming through and a guy that has played league football elsewhere though, haven't we?

Gladwin had played 50 games for Swindon when we signed him. Furlong hadn't kicked a ball in the first team for us, or even gone out on loan when we thrust him into 1st team action under Ramsey. Personally I think Furlong will be a good player with a bit of patience, but his development as a player has been done totally the wrong way round. Should have gone and had some League 1 or League 2 football before being considered for our first team in my opinion.

Weird though that these players are being signed (or do well for U23s) and yet are being shut out of 1st team even when it's clearly under-performing. If this wasn't the case it would at least appear to have a rational explanation.
Good post, one for the forum.

What's happened is that we didn't appoint a development manager and most people knew that from the off. Olly is old skool, you dont win anything with kids etc etc etc etc.

Only problem is we don't win anything anyway.
