We really should be coming onto the pitch to the tune of " Roll out the barrel".

Genuine question, why are people getting annoyed at us not signing anyone when we can't spend and don't have a pot to #### in for a few years?

We all know our situation, right?

According to Dof les and holloway, we will only be able to spend money that we generate through sales.

Now, putting the parachute money of 10mil to one side (to cover any ffp fine)

so far, we have received around 2mil for the sale of 3 players.

now, preseason is almost over, and none of that money has been reinvested.

Looks like Daniel Levy is thinking the same way.

Chairman Daniel Levy has defended Tottenham's lack of transfer activity this summer and claimed the spending by other Premier League clubs is unsustainable.

More than £850m has been spent by top-flight sides in the transfer window, which ends on 31 August.

But Tottenham, who sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £45m this month, have not made any signings.

"We have a duty to manage the club appropriately," said Levy.

"Some of the activity that is going on at the moment is just impossible for it to be sustainable.

"Somebody spending £200m more than they're earning, eventually it catches up with you. And you can't keep doing it."

Levy said: "Our position on transfers is that we have a coach who very much believes in the academy, so unless we can find a player that makes a difference we would rather give one of our young academy players a chance.

"The academy is important because if we produce our own players we don't have to spend £20m or £30m on a player.

"An academy player has that affinity with the club and that's what the fans want to see."

I'm glad somebody a big club came out and said this.

I agree 100% with what Levy is saying. Transfer fees have got ridiculous and the the current upward trend is completely unsustainable. It will be interesting to see if any other big clubs follow Tottenham's stance.

                        Or in other words:

The academy is important because that is where we can flog players that won't make it to QPR

Right then Westy lad Why are people getting annoyed I refer you to Birchams statement we have identified early signing and back up signings ! that again hasn't happend we get fed this shlt at the start of every window by Les and co and the quality of signings has generally gone down year on year for the last five windows and this looks to have all the hall marks of being the worse Scuwens apart

Easy for Levy to say he has quality coming through as the past has shown ! And does that side need to go out and spend bundles best side in the country to watch by a country mile quality through and through there

Daniel Levy ..last season Sissoko and Janssen. Before that Saldado. Paulinho etc . Spurs record on transfers is at best patchy and certainly after Bale left they bought big and in some cases badly. It suits the Levy agenda to say this now just as Spurs invest in a new ground so he can put the brakes on player spend...

Absolutely spot on and you beat me to it! Spurs DON'T have to spend as they have a decent all round Premier league outfit. US on the other hand finished the Championship league 4th from bloody bottom by conceding too many goals and not scoring enough the other bloody end!

It's not rocket science is it? Why is it that it is only the bloody fans who can see this at the club? Come on Tony, Les, Ollie...get your act together fellas and strengthen the squad in the key areas that need it!

                                You R'rs!!!
