    I think there is a lot to like about the signing. United fans rate him and they are generally pretty well educated about the youth coming through at the club. We need a cultured central midfielder, plus he can cover at left back where we are pretty much reliant on Bidwell with Robinson only being available sporadically!

    If he can pick a pass, shrug off opposition, make a tackle, stick to a game plan and work with the team in the way that Carrick does he's worth a punt.

    Carrick is currently the best midfielder in the country. Only need to look at what United do with, and without him on the pitch to see that. I think he was better than Gerrard and Lampard. Sure a different type of player, he doesn't score like they do. However he's the guy that make the entire team tick.
