You're not far off TBH. He's actually a friend of my brother. Title doesn't reflect his job at all (typical QPR). He is indeed learning the game alongside JFH, DO and DH. I believe he works closely with the first team coaching staff to set up training sessions and assist them during. Just learning about the game, like many current managers have done.
