Sure, some managers might do better, some might do worse. I don't know why people hate the fact that it's work in progress, but that's what is. Sure, JFH is stubborn. He's sticking to his guns. He has a plan. it is evolving slowly. Far too slowly for most on here, I get that. People don't like his tactics. But his persistence and perseverance can also be seen as positive qualities, especially if ultimately, they come to fruition. And that is something we just don't know yet.

But what I don't get is the desperation. We're undergoing a root and branch reform on every level. This had to happen, I think most agree. And what is required at his point is to keep the ship steady. Yeah, I know some people's response to that will be 'the ship is sinking!' - but is it? I'm seeing signs of things coming together. Surely what is really required of fans through this process is support? As opposed to a daily Spanish Inquisition.

But just how long are we expected to wait for the manager to begin with decent starting line ups, positive attacking football with a bit of decent defending thrown in for good measure?

It would be somewhat alarming if he were putting on performances like this if he'd joined in the summer. But I think what justifies the negativity is that he has been here since December and there are simply no signs of being competent at the back and still woeful up front.

Washington up front on his own? He's not a lone striker so if JFH thinks he's going to start banging goals in playing him in that formation, then he's more stupid than many of us dare to think.

As for the desperation, I guess it's a combination of such mind-numbingly boring and ineffective football and the fact that consolidation was something that should have occured during the second part of last season. I doubt many of us, yourself included probably, would have thought we would be doing this badly a quarter of the way through the season with little sign of progress, particularly considering the standard of the opposition we have faced so far.

Toxicity at times on here is too much even for me. So many people looking one way and ignoring the other, even I do that, but the fact that people choose to look down than up is really disheartening at times. We're 4 from bottom 3, 5 from top 6, and we just scored our first goal from open play.

I personally dont think he`s got 5 games .If we do our usual halfhearted capitulation at Fulham , the crowd will turn on him ,i`m sure .....once that happens theres usually no going back, so we shall see

But he is only a short term answer

Last season he was a short term answer because we were looking to get back into the premiership. I don't think that is the case now, so he could be here for at least a couple of seasons (which is a long time for our managers).

Washington was all he had, Polter still recovering from injury and Sylla was injured on saturday so nothing he could do there.

Sylla was sick apparently. However only having Washington available is not an excuse but part of the problem. Everybody knows that it doesn't work with him up front on his own, so why persist. Why not try somebody like Eze who has been playing pretty well in the under 23s, and why send out JET out on loan. According to some he might not be championship standard but he scored some valuable goals last season in the championship which is more than Washington has done on his own up front.
