Really? Any striker with that rate is decent enough especially for £1.5m.

Defoe is seen as a proper goalscorer and he's 2.87 games per goal.

Actually I am surprised Defoe doesn't have a better average.

Anyway I don't think 13 goals in a 46 game season (assuming he played every game) is a sign of a good finisher. My point wasn't to moan about us signing him, more that we shouldn't be expecting him to bang them in regularly.

Anyone heard the latest podcast from the club, The Loftcast? Les was talking about the summer's business, says he is happy but we could have done with 1 more. He said that they thought Sylla was out of our price range as Anderlecht had turned down £8.5 mill earlier in the summer but the way things played out over the summer (maybe anderlecht changing manager and sylla not being in the plans) we managed to get the deal we wanted. There was the rumour of Wolves bidding £5 mill earlier but hadn't heard anything about a larger bid. Anyway if true that is a pretty shrewd deal.

I'm only guessing but if he could play in France then surely he can move within the EU (as it currently stands) without issue?

It was stated he didn't go to Wolves because of problems with the work permit.
