If you watch Luongo closely, he gives the ball away too easily.

We all know the problem is midfield and up top presently. I think we have a very good championship standard defense that could easily help us compete at the top 6 level.
However midfield and up front its more in line with a top league 1 team or a struggling championship team. We desperately need midfielders who are more on Cousins wave length and can distribute the ball quickly and efficiently.
Luongo and Naseer are good squad players imo but not ideal first team starters. Gladwin, JET, Doughty and Petrasso are good league 1 players in my view and should only be used if needed, which at the moment they are because we don't have the quality in depth.
Very hard to judge Polter and Connor at the moment as they just don't get the service to really judge them fairly at this level. I wont panic to much right now because 3 or 4 quality signings in the midfield area and maybe 1 up top and we will be a very different prospect.

But we are less than two weeks away from our first game and as is the case every single year, we haven't sorted out the attack to any satisfactory degree.

We have no movement in midfield or up front, and haven't for years. When Burton sat back we were left with Karl Henry trying to find a pass that wasn't there and then inevitably ended up playing it down the wing and trying to force a cross that was never going to happen.
Cherry and Sandro (when fit) are the only midfielders I haver faith in. Luongo is worth his spot in the squad but shouldn't be starting, and I can't comment on Cousins yet. Polter is ok but cannot be first choice and Washington isn't good enough.
We need 2 or 3 first team signings minimum.
