Villa hoping to sign him for 6.5 mill from Bristol city.

I know it's wishful thinking but he's the type of player of love to see is sign. I like the business we are doing and how much more prudent we are being. However if we do have any genuine aims of going up I think most agree we need to sign a decent striker and nowadays you have to pay a fair wack.

6.5 mill in this market is pretty good imo!

They signed a Reading player for 5.5 million. Aaron Tshibola, a 21 year old midfielder.

Oh and Norwich are apparently after Forests Britt Assombalonga for 7 million.
To be honest I'm glad we ain't spending these sort of figures on chances anymore. Been stung by the likes of Caulker and Mutch , let the others have go.

We certainly dont have the cash to be risking 6.5 million on an ok player. I am happy with the business we are doing now. This is what QPR was before we started squandering cash on poor uninterested players who wanted a wage packet. I am willing to accept mid table and patience whilst we build a team. If we do become a feeder club by buying well and selling for a profit that would be fantastic for our long term future.

Thought Brizzle were "rich" now so no need to sell.

Think we need to face facts that proven championship goalscorers do now command a fairly hefty fee. Seen this figure of 4 million for Wells being banded around, so dont know if its come from somewhere but would have thought he will cost at least double that.

Aint going to get much if any change out of £6 million for a proven champ striker so expect us to go abroad or lower leagues.

3rd placed Brighton from last season...........did fantastically well on a total outlay of less than a single Newcastle signing....

We didn't spend a massive amount when we went up under Warnock despite all the press stuff about our super rich owners. From memory it was something like

                            Kenny - 750k
                            Orr - 500k
                            Adel - 1m
                            Hulse - 1m
                            Hill - Free?
                            Derry - Free?
                            Tommy Smith - 1 mil?

It's all relative though - back then, spending £4-5m was a lot! These days that will just about get you one player. There's more money in the game now, so everything is going to seem inflated, but it's all relative.
