    Defense for next season

**Moved posts - the ongoing discussion from locked matchday thread** - admin

What a quality penalty that was by Chery

Do have to say though, what is up with Hall and Angella? That goal should never have happened. Hall's clearance is poor. Ned manages to get it clear only for Angella to totally misread that ball and open up the opportunity for a goal. We really need Jack Robinson to get fully fit and get into the side to bring Ned and Hall back as the centre back pairing.
"What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane

Hope we're looking at a new CB.

Angella is not all that at all. Half decent with the ball at his feet, but a bit of a clown in the air, especially considering he is so bat & ball.

We have 4 CBs, not sure you've you singled Ned out?

Last few performances have made it look like we would be better off letting Angell a go back or elsewhere, really hope we don't sign him now.

Suggest listening to the David Bardsley interview on the latest QPR podcast. He sums up our defensive issues well. We clearly need a specialist RB and at least one CB.

Angella's distribution is superb at times, but his no 1 responsibility is to defend and there have been too many incidents like last night. Look at Leicester - two hulking CBs who don't have great ball skills, but nothing gets past them.

No Stan we need at least 2 c/b's Ned loses concentration to often Angela cant defend , Hall needs experience alongside him , Hill should be offered a coaching role as well as being retained as a player for stand by

I still can't believe people don't see Ned and Hall working in defence. When Ned loses concentration, he's got alongside him Hall who's generally there to stop things going wrong. When Hall is too slow, he's got Ned there rushing in to make a challenge to stop the run. It works well but people just don't like ned for whatever reason.

Based on that analogy, wouldn't it be better to recruit a CB that doesnt lose concentration (which you have admitted is an inevitability with Ned) so that the CB's can concentrate on their own games rather than constantly having an eye on covering the other? Personally I have no problem with CB's lacking pace as there are loads of examples of greats that lacked pace and they can use positioning etc. to counter that but lack of concentration is a worrying trait for a CB.

Been an absolute gem for us this season but Smithies has got to claim that floated cross in his own 6 yard box. No critisism from me though, mistakes happen and hes a top keeper.
