Yea people will criticise me for this, probably shouldn't harangue our own players and that's something I very rarely do but in this case, I think it's necessary. What does he actually do? He attempts only 14 passes all games and only 42% of them are accurate, no accurate crosses (2 attempted only), no accurate long passes (1 attempted only), 4 dribbles attempted, none successful, 12 aerial duels attempted, only 3 won, dispossessed once, given away a foul, only 1 interception and one tackle for someone who's only real benefit is supposed to be his pressing and defensive roles. This is in 78 minutes of football. I really don't see why he is even in the squad over Petrasso and in the line up over Nasser, who both offer more than him. My only joy was that it seems JFH might have realised how ineffective he was when he took him off.

I couldn't agree more. He just isn't good enough. People compare his effort to Polter's and they are similar in that aspect but Polter also scores and is improving his all round game whilst Mackie's has declined. I think Mackie is a great guy, but he has done exceptionally well to make a career amongst the top two leagues of English football. If he was older he could stay in some capacity but I would say he has to go play elsewhere.

Absolutely, just to show it, here are Hoiletts stats from today: 24 passes with 79% accuracy, 2 Accurate Long Balls, 1 key pass, 2 shots both on target, 2 dribble attempts with one successful, 6 aerial duels attempted, 4 won (incredible given his stature but he sure puts everything into those leaps), 0 dispossessed moments, 0 fouls given away, 1 clearance, 1 block, 2 tackles, 2 interceptions and he isn't even a really defensive player in the same sense that Mackie is.Originally posted by Awin View PostAs I said on match thread - mackie offers less end product than hoillett does on a bad day"What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. Although I agree that Hoilett offers considerably more than Mackie, I think its harsh to compare him to Hoilett as he is on considerably more money and so should be miles ahead of him. Not a criticism of Awin as he said on a bad day. Mackie isnt one of my favourite players and hasnt offered much this season. Maybe Jimmy felt he needed a more defensive minded player on the wing then Nasser or just wanted to see Mackie play to form a better opinion of what we have. Cant see how Jimmy will be impressed by his performances though

Those stats are all very well, but how many times did he clap our fans hey? Reckon there was the odd fist pump followed by a passionate "come on" at the fans too. Seriously these are the things Mackie brings to the table, and thats about it!.... How hes a starter ill never know.Originally posted by nasser95 View PostYea people will criticise me for this, probably shouldn't harangue our own players and that's something I very rarely do but in this case, I think it's necessary. What ever Mackie did or didn't do we would have gone up to Preston to get beat not so long ago , ok everybody is disappointed with the outcome but they are a difficult side to play against I can understand why Jimmy Floyd picked him for this game even if it was for his wholehearted nuisance value , we're making progress even if it's not all hunky dory boutique football come on fella's give the mlngebagging a restLast edited by dogsrrs; 19-03-2016, 08:12 PM.

I haven't said anything about the performance at all, I've heard we were the better side and I heard Faurlin in particular stood out as quality today. With that being said, I reckon we could have gotten the same result with 10 men as opposed to having mackie on the pitch and my point is that he 1) should not be starting at all and 2) offers literally nothing whatsoever other than a few claps and running aimlessly. That may get the fans all happy but it can pi5 s off players who are on the pitch and see him doing sweet fa apart from being a mascot and yet manage to get a place on the starting line up over someone who can actually benefit the side's play.Originally posted by dogsrrs View PostWhat ever Mackie did or didn't do we would have gone have gone up to Preston to get beat not so long ago , ok everybody is disappointed with the outcome but they are a difficult side to play against I can understand why Jimmy Floyd picked him for this game even if it was for his wholehearted nuisance value , we're making progress even if it's not all hunky dory boutique football come give the mlngebagging a rest"What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. I didn't reply to you alone we wont go up this season , we wont go up next season , so in my book as long as we ain't getting beat we are breaking the habit of the side Jimmy Floyd took over and moving forward as someone said he's unlikely to here next season and the squad will improve given timeOriginally posted by nasser95 View PostI haven't said anything about the performance at all, I've heard we were the better side and I heard Faurlin in particular stood out as quality today. Absolutely, it'll still be better than mackies: Since 2011/12 (the first available time for Mackie's statistics), his average whoscored rating for starts only (not substitute appearances) is 6.62 including this season and 6.63 excluding this season.Originally posted by Greg1882 View PostAny chance someone could drag up hoilets stats from the rest of his time with us, not including the current purple patch he's experiencing.
Hoilett's average since joining us for starts alone is 7.00 including this season and 6.84 not including this season. Seems a fairly easy choice as to who's been better based on the stats and that's Junior."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value.
