Probably the worst game Hall has played since middle school I'd guess

Hill and Hall are the 1st choice pairing for me as they make the least amount of errors of our four choices.

You have to consider how they compliment each other. To me, while hall is a good ball player, he is slow; Hill is not a ball player and he's also slow. Angella is very similar to hall in that sense that they're both comfortable on the ball but aren't the fastest. Ned compliments them both Perfectly in that he's average on the ball but rapid, allowing for better covering.

You also have to consider that Hill is by far and away the best and most natural leader of the four.

So then it should be Hill and Onuoha... by the combination of logics.

But why have people forgotten the excellent work done by Onuoha and Hall as a duo this season. It's actually bewildering to me.

Best period defensively this season I would guess was Ned and Hall. People don't like Ned so don't give him and credit

Angella and Hall yesterday were shocking but not going hammer as both have been decent rest of season

I really don't understand the dislike of Ned. He's made mistakes at times but no more than any other centre back (even Clint has in the past) and he's got physique and pace to really make a difference to our centre back pairing. Honestly, he has to start with Hall. In matches where they've started together and played all 90 minutes, they've conceded 24 in 24 Matches. we've conceded 22 in the remaining 15 games where they weren't the centre back pairing. They come across as comfortable playing together, knowing that if one of them pushes up, the other will stay back. Ned loves centre back because he doesn't need to be running up and down and you can see that in his game. He's a solid defender, constantly making challenges, interceptions, blocks, but at right back he tends to be too far up the pitch too often. Play him at centre back and you have a guaranteed long term partnership.

I'd still put Hall ahead of Onuoha as he's a more natural footballer and is overall less error-prone / concentration lapses.

If we don't want to concede, we cannot afford to be played through. Hall and Hill will be played through because they lack pace. Hall and Ned or Hill and Ned will not be played through as often because Ned is fast, he can cover.

I think you're putting too much emphasis on pace and not considering the many other facets of defending mate

I'm putting emphasis on balance and just to point out, Nedum has done every other aspect of defending to a top top quality this season. I have all the data to back this available and if people don't believe it and need proof, I'd happily show everyone.

No way is he "top top quality". He's no more than an average championship defender.

Here you go, sift through it.

Yes, I do understand all the pro-stats arguments but it's just not for me because it's far too analytical and left-brain mode. Yes stats do have an important role to play, of course, but IMO they will never give the truest overall assessment - and that can only be ultimately arrived at with what one's actual eyes tell us when watching the game.

Cannot believe how high people rate Onoura. He isn't the worst player by a long shot and is constantly played out of position but look back at the goals we have conceded this year and Onoura is to blame for a hefty few and has a mistake in him at any time.

The lack of leadership we have in the team is alarming and another reason Clint Hill should be in the side.
