The only relevance is that, if true, and we had been promoted, not sure the board would have been prepared to pay those wages.

Thanks, hm, that´s a valid point. IOW, we now have to sign strikers on sensible wages.

There is no way Saints would give a him £100k a week on a 4.5 year deal.

Is he a bargain if his wages are £100,000 per week? dg

Bit odd for a chairman to say stuff like that when it's all relative. Wages are paid to chaz in lieu of the cut price transfer fee.

Yes but if it is true (and I'm not sure it is) that means he will be getting 100.000 a week for four and a half years.

Maybe not out and out wages, but the value of the overall deal. If Chas had waited 6 months then he'd have got a big signing on fee - he's probably still got a signing on fee and reasonable wages, which if you divide the overall worth by the number of weeks gives you £100K. Far more likely to have been given a signing on fee and lower wages to avoid everyone else asking for a pay rise as soon as he signs.

Cabaye the experienced French international...why wouldn't he be on a figure around that mark?

Hardly in the same world as Charlie Austin who has a history of injury problems, a failed medical and one season in the top flight.
