If his record is anything to go by, it will no doubt come in handy at some point.

26, injured and a history of injuries

Some would argue that he's a risk.

Only time will tell however for all those who would have sold him in the summer, please remember we needed him to have any chance at going up. If he played all through Xmas etc we would be in a much better position.

Let's take the chance at getting a young star. Building a future around him. Dwight Galye........

Southampton have a habit of offloading players to bigger clubs after a short period of time see below:

The whole Austin plagued by injury thing is a total myth. Firstly many seem to go on about his dodgy knees, he's not had a knee injury as a pro. He failed his Hull medical as it flagged up he had a knee op when he was 14 and, having been stung badly by Bullard and his injuries, they didn't want to take any risks.

Austin has played 228 games in his 6 seasons in professional football (excluding this season where he has had a few injuries tbf). An average of 38 games per season.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

100 k a week apparently, which I really believe is true. They have incorporated his signing on fee into his wages and don't have to find it all up front, suits both club and player.

There are add-ons to Austin's move....£500k our way if he gets in the England Euro squad and another £500k if he scores 12 goals for Southampton this season....

Polter seems to play badly every game (bar the last one, credit where it's due) but still manages to find the net. I think those two up front together could be clinical.
what the fark are you smoking mate!??? He had a good spell earlier in the season when Charlie was out the 1st time, but recently hes been a lazy fk. best striker at the club!? yeah..... loads of competition there!

When asked if the £4million spent on the Englishman was one of the best deals of the transfer window, Arsene Wenger replied: “Yes. I was surprised how cheap he was."
