Ned and Phillips are so big it surely limits their effectiveness. Footballers shouldn't be so bulked up. The sooner Serrant is fired the better. My Virgin Active PT, George, would do a better job.

So much cynicism on here! For me, those articles reveal JFH has made a difference, it's not merely the new manager propaganda. The issue of poor fitness clearly started under Redknapp and Ramsey didn't do enough to address it, IMO.

JFH pressing game will mean the players have to be fit, we'll be seeing a lot more running around and closing down...something we haven't seen in god knows how long.

Compare us to Burnley and Leicester last season, mentally we were down without having to kick a ball as they did both seem far fitter than us against other sides but both bizarrely lost to us at LR.

Actions always speak louder than words when it comes to players talking about the new gaffer.

Getting fit and working when the ball is lost will improve things.

But unless we learn how to keep the ball ourselves and open teams up we're going nowhere. Sooner or later we have to get some creativity at 10 or attacking midfield.

Interesting that Klopp apparently is having second thoughts about being able to maintain the pressing game in English football, because with so many competitive matches it's hard for the players to keep playing at such a high tempo. Easier in the German and Spanish Leagues where only 3 or 4 teams count, with the rest just making up the numbers. Guess Jimmy knows what he's doing - at least his brand of football has been tried in the lower divisions.

interesting point, plus better opposition know how to handle pressure.....

Always thought that pressing isn't really a strategy that works in S.Europe, not least because of the climate. Whatever, it is really important that other aspects of our game improve alongside fitness.
