Alex McCarthy set to be replaced by...

Jon Maxted. Failed at Donacaster, Walsall and Hartlepool and was recently on trial with Forest Green Rovers.

McCarthy looks set to join Palace (various reports on the internet, Steve Parish even tweeted that two new signings would be made tomorrow)

Ok so Mccarthy is good enough for a top 10 prem league club but is not good enough for us.
His replacement will be someone who could not get a game for Walsall.
    Makes
    sense.

Well it's what the majority of this board want....well maybe the loudest want....Unpolished gems. There are some real polishers on here!!!
McCarthy, according to Moose is having a medical right now at Palace. Going well by all accounts, bending and sitting ...good luck to him

Obviously doesn't feel he's good enough to wrestle the jersey off Greeno. See ya.

Good news if true. 3.5 mil in the bank and we still have Green as our number 1.

Stupid decision if the club let him leave.

Not much we can do if they have met the minimum release clause. He would rather sit on their bench than ours.

of course, it's always possible that 21 year-old maxted is being signed up to play with the youth team and not as someone to automatically become our first team reserve keeper. but let's ignore that (extremely likely) possibility...

I'd say take the £3.5mill (which is a steal btw) and go get another keeper. A good championship one.

sir Les had better get looking for decent back up who can challenge Green.

As long as a decent back up/challenger is signed for less than 3.5m.
But for me the real issue is why such a low release clause they paid at least that to buy him from Reading. The fee should have been £5m as a minimum.

This. And maybe Lumley going out on loan.

Hope so. McCarthy certainly isn't good enough.
