A CB's best years are between 28-32. Pique, Ramos, Thiago Silva, Mascherano, Godin, Chiellini, Naldo are all that age, and are still amongst the best in world football. I'm not comparing Mariappa to any of those players, but age means so much less now in the modern game than it did 20-30 years ago.

Decent signing for a cheap option. We dont even know if Caulker is going to be here and we are already in need of a CB to make up numbers. We wont be signing anyone of a higher level than this for defence
