He seems to be very capable with regards to shooting, very reminiscent of a certain Hungarian Attacking midfielder at this club, but with a bit more about him.

This is an exciting signing. I think I'd be pleased with this bit of business even if we were still in the prem. He looks more than capable of doing a job in the Championship.

If the club pull this off and he is as good as he sounds then the club deserves massive congratulations - precisely the kind of signing we should be aiming for. Attacking left footed midfielder who scores plenty of goals - rare as hens teeth and has been a problem position for us since we bombed out Adel. It is a massive "if" at this stage but if we had a midfield of Cherry left, Sandro holding, Fer attacking centre mid and Philips out right with the young Aussie lad pushing them for a start that would be one hell of a midfield at this level.
Re some people questioning why he appears cheap: one report I read said we have triggered a Euro3m release clause - if so, great business.

Cant see Sandro or and/or phillips being with us.

And yep releases causes are release causes - just look at mccarthy

So in effect we are signing a 27 year old Midfielder in the Dutch squad, selling a player who never kicked a ball for us (Sterling) and getting over £7m in the deal as well?

            Can't be bad.

Thanks for all the clarifications. I was just looking over it before work this morning and didn't have time to check into contract status. It makes a lot of sense then. I am very excited about all the young and upcoming talent Chris and Les have brought in. Uber excited for the season to start. Does this signing kind of push Fer out the door? Seems like they play same style and position (when Fer is played where he should be). We seem to have a lot of midfield depth if Phillips and Sandro stay. (Not really sure I want Sandro back, would take 30 cents on the dollar for him at this point).

The fact we are signing a player of this Calibre and people still think we will struggle or don't have ambitions to go straight back up is beyond me.

You don't attract or sign players like this by telling him mid table is what we want this year. This bloke will be coming with the intention to be part of a promotion push especially of prem clubs were sniffing.

You could be right. I did say "if". Even if Philips goes we still have Luagono (spelling?), Gladwin and - injuries allowing - Faurlin. Plus Henry and Mackie in reserve - and no doubt Hoilett. A good striker and a right back and we will pretty well be sorted.

Agreed, I mentioned in a thread yesterday about where we actually need someone and this position was one of them. As you say, right back and a Pacy striker and we will be swimming.

A prem team could come in and scupper this though. But as I 1st posted we bid 2 mil. That got rejected. And as press reported we've gave another 250k . Fer and the players willingness to come is what's made this happen so far. Stan as a moderator I want to ask can I post another name up of a defender we've just bid for or will it get me in doodoo with the club? Remember before ric roc who was bang on every time got told to stop posting up info .

Feel free to enter the King ITK race Rickson. The previous winner has certainly let his crown slip and now its there for the taking.

So who is this defender? Is it Perch or someone not previously mentioned?
