I think what is key from both threads is that most see him as a squad player so will be interesting to see if Mackie is happy with that or if he comes with expectations of starting eleven. He was not content to be a squad player last time

Mackie could quite easily be coming back to be captain. That's what I'm hearing.

If that's the case I think he could be a mainstay in the first 11. Personally don't mind that at all if we have a bit of quality around him.
