Isla can't bear too much of the blame. He got beaten by Hazard but there's no shame in that, he forced him wide and bought the team some time, one of our midfielders should've covered Fabregas if anything.

I guess that's the fairest thing to say about today. It's why it's so gutting. Isla, however, has much previous form.

Greens expression at the final whistle says it all. Anyway I just hope we can stay up this season. We Go Again vs the Hammers

I have my doubts on Isla as a natural defender like many, but not going to fault anyone but Green for that goal. 88th minute the back 4 have all defended brilliantly/tired as anything and look forward to Green under no pressure launching it up the field giving the back 4 some rest bite and a chance to regroup.

Instead he kicks it 20 yards to one of the best players in the league with plenty of space in front of him. Not sure any right back would have done any better in that one scenario so to blame Isla is harsh. I thought Isla, Hill, Ned and Caulker were all brilliant to keep the likes of Drogba, Hazard and William etc fairly quiet.

THANK YOU! They did better than keeping them quiet, they kept them ABSOLUTELY SILENT. 1st shot on target @88th min. Its the first shot he had to save all day.

Yeah it did. He was in the loneliest place. And you're right. We go again. What else can we do? Here's hoping, too. Night night, Taarabt.

Too be fair to him phillips was a millimetre away from blocking the shot after chasing him down.

How was he supposed to know Green would mess up that kick? He's been solid for us more often than not..and he's a wing back playing right back, and in my opinion is good enough to be playing in europe.

I don't put too much of it on Isla, it's only speculation but Fabregas was in an area where Sandro has done well in blocking shots and mopping up!

The sooner he's gone the better. Carved up down the right once again.
The Hill blinkers make me laugh. Some talk on here like he's the best defender in the world.

Isla was facing the other direction when green kicked it hence hazard got a run on him initially. When in the corner he then got beaten by the best player in the league with a 1-2. If he'd of blocked him off he'd have thrown himself down and probably got a pen.

Yet super Hill wouldn't let such a thing happen....like the Swansea game you mean when on the left touchline Ki had the ball (Ki, not Hazard) and Hill backed off and off and off until he was in the middle of the pitch on the edge of our area and rolled it to Bony who scored in injury time costing us 2 massive points on the day.......

Not sticking up for Hill but look at your line beginning Isla was facing the other way.. Schoolboy defending says keep your eye on the ball and follow the keepers kick up field. Had he been following the kick he was in a better position than hazard to get the ball first.

Not at all. All players will turn and run to their designated place for such a situation, in this case clearly half way. You could equally argue Green shouldn't kick the ball until everyone is looking!

By your reckoning if the defence where running out looking the other way and Green rolled the ball out the box to an attacker, it would be the defenders fault for not assuming he'd make a monumental #### up.

Isla is no full back and unfortunately for him wont get into our side on the right wing while Philips is around.

Shame, because if he was left sided he would be amazing for us.

Green has been amazing this season so I can't be too annoyed.
The one thing I would add though is he generally has to kick out at every opportunity, no me of our defenders ever wants the ball. Fact Isla turns his back is systematic of how we play, it does result in Green being put under pressure to nearly always kick out, so every so often something will go wrong as it did yesterday.
Thought on whole Green's distribution up to that point was ok, if posters are complaining about his distribution, then our defenders are doing little to help him out.
Chelsea defenders seemed more keen to accept the ball from the keeper.

Isla was at fault for the goal but i felt he had Hazard in his pocket for most of the game.

30 minutes into the 1st half Hazard swapped over from the left to the right, obviously no one noticed that...
