i was a fan of Mackie ,in his time for us , but surely we should be looking at long term players not just for the Championship but hopefully when were back in the top flight . No point getting promoted ,then starting to rebuild ,yet again .

Core some on here are a little sensitive - put a message up on here about mackie - a proven championship player who I also think could cut it in the prem and still a good age and that means i would obviously want buszCky back, Tommy smith and might as well get Derry and Orr out of retirement too!

How ridiculous! Mackie would improve our squad and add something to it - also people write him off as a prem league player need to look at the teams around us this year and just how poor they are!!

Cos Stuart Pearce has proved time after time after time he really hasn't got a clue what he's doing when it comes to management. Probably be our next boss then.

He was playing against Bradford and they really looked like they were knackered so no wonder Mackie looked good. If Mackie is so good why isn't he playing in the Prem.

Knew this topic would come up while watching the game. He's not our saviour and would make no difference to our bunch of misfits if he was playing now.

Mackie was put on a pedestal by so many Rangers fans just becasue he scored regularly at the start of his time with us and ran a lot ....

They ignored the fact that often it was a complete waste of energy and something he'd be better off not doing, such as charging 50 yards to a keeper who'll pick it up anyway, then lacked the energy for a worthwhile run soon after. Chasing players down in general play is one thing, bt he often took it to extremes.

They also ignore the fact he missed countless sitters.

They also ignore the fact he was incredibly greedy, often more so than Adel and would repeatedly ignore a simply pass to "Try" and beat another player... and by beat, i mean normally just run into them and bundle and bobble a way through them "hopefully".....

Then of course there were the endless times he just kicked the ball and ran into dead ends or even straight off the pitch.

He also had a tendancy to make clumsy tackles in our final third giving away dangerous Free kicks near our box.

Other than that he was great.....
