I'd have him on loan, but never as a permanent signing. The are 2 Adebayor's, the one that is unstoppable and the one that is plain useless, sadly he is mostly the latter.

Nevermind whether Adebayor is lazy or not - we simply don't make enough chances with our current midfield to justify bringing him in. Rather than concentrating on a striker, Hangdog should be looking to bring in a creative midfielder to replace Barton. You can have the greatest goalscorer on Planet Earth, but it counts for nothing if (as in our case) we don't get them in positions to put the ball in the net. Austin has been essentially playing as a false 9 away from home, in order to try and link up with our virtually non-existent attacking threat from midfield.

Best post so far very accurate and agreeOriginally posted by Falcon View PostAll depends what Adebayor turns up. At his best, he can be unplayable.......but if he doesn't fancy it, could be a liability.
A gamble, but in the seeming absence of alternatives, probably one worth taking
Were on our knees and we need something out of the ordinary as we appear unable to get any other worthwhile targets in that could have an impact. The move if true has the ability to go spectacularly wrong or be a masterstroke very much dependent upon what people have said which Adebayor turns up.
If its the one that turns up for the first 12months of any club he joins then its a b loody good deal however if its the one that loses interest after 12months then I fear the fans will get on his back early doors
He likes playing for Harry so hopefully thats motivation enough to get him in the zone as we only have 15 games left and probably only need magic from him in 6 of them to be safe
I know there is negativity around him but this guy has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world in Real Madrid, Arsenal and you can throw Man City in too hes no mug as a striker

Harry is the issue! Playing players out of position tends to mean they don't play to their best, which then dents their confidence and affects performances?Originally posted by Wolfy View PostIt is a gamble we need to take. He may be superb or useless. He knows the league and has goals in him.
But will he be enough when we have so many weaknesses in the team? Our defending is childlike as is our passing. Lack of pace and creativity is another area which has hurt. Then there is Harry who compounds the issues.
The worst travesty is that he's never played Vargas up front with Austin!!! His movement is great, he has pace and could play on the shoulder, similar to the likes of Aguero, and would get goals. For Chile, a great side, he plays up front and has an excellent 1 in 2 record, which is superb at international level.
But no, super, amazing manager Redknapp plays him wide to negate his game and leaves wingers on the bench. Then there's Fer, a great CM who he plays wide!!!!!!
Redknapp's a ####ing clown, always has been, always will be. It's always been a media generated hype and myth he's such a good manager, he isn't! He's only ever won one cup, during the run of which they played all but one game against lower league sides, including the final in which they were awful but fluked a win (sound familiar). Lets not forget that was a pompey side put together with big names on silly money that ultimately ruined the club!
At spurs he basically got a stupidly good squad to reach a level they should be at, that's all. Nothing spectacular at all.
He's a myth, nothing more.

Actually in many games we've had loads of chances and just not scored. Away he sets up defensive, but if he had Adabayor may actually start with 2 strikers and cause problems from the off.Originally posted by surrey_hoop View PostNevermind whether Adebayor is lazy or not - we simply don't make enough chances with our current midfield to justify bringing him in. Doesn't matter whether he is a success or not this represents everything that's wrong with the club.
Short term loan of aging player that no one else wants because we simply fail to plan properly. Everyone knew we needed a striker, any sort of realism re Zamora went out the window when he scored that goal, fans yes but the management and coaching team should have known better. He has done nothing at our club would be lucky to get into any other side in the top two divisions but we see him as some sort of hero. I could go on about overrated players and lack of planning but what's the point

At home maybe. I'm talking about away - as I say, setting up with 1, 2 or 5 strikers won't help if we can't get the ball to them in goalscoring positions. We need a playmaker over a goalscorer, without question.Originally posted by Del View PostActually in many games we've had loads of chances and just not scored. No, the problem away is he doesn't want to play Zamora from the start as he won't last, so being the genius he is keeps him as a rubbish plan B. if he had a target man to start I think he would which would change the dynamic away from home completely.Originally posted by surrey_hoop View PostAt home maybe. We have playmakers he ignores like Adel, Zarate.

Been to a few spurs games this year and last and I am not going to go into the why's and hows of doing such a thing but there have been reasons for it.
Anyway I have seen enough of adebayor to comment on this.
The main game that stands out for me was last season during Sherwoods appointment.
They were playing Everton and won 1-0. A pretty awful game to watch for a neutral and I was saying to my mate how pi ss poor Adebayor had performed.
Well game looked to be heading for a 0-0 when Adybayor struck a fantastic shot from 20 yards and won them the game. He will be just that, 1 of the most frustrating players you have seen.
What I would say to West is forget about the clubs he used to play for, he is NOT the beast of a striker, infact the unplayable one he once was!
This is a player on the way out, after watching the young Harry Kane who I think could become an england legend, Adebayor is miles away from a start now. Kane has so many weapons and basically shows how being a big strong centre forward should be done, working his socks off causing defenders a headache for 90mins. I think going down the road of buying a player on his way out is a massive gamble but we are in a situation to change it and this would certainly be some change.
I'd of rather defoe at similar wages.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
