....agree entirely, the real meaning of Christmas has long been forgotten, and now driven by pure commercialism and greed.
Can't move anywhere over the Christmas/New Year period.....too many people about....as if people haven't spent enough for Christmas, they do it all over again in the sales!!! Bring on the New Year, when kids go back to school and bods go back work and we can all get back to normality again!

I guess individuals are to blame for that - in our house Christmas is still a proper good old fashioned time for a family knees up. No telly, loads of games with the kids and so proper quality family time. We don't put decorations up until this weekend and try and keep a lid on the kids excitement but it makes me feel young again when they get beside themselves in the build up.
Christmas Eve every year it's front row seats at the local Panto, oh yes it is, and then midnight mass, back home to track Santa's progrss on the satellite and then hey presto, magic faces and memories for a lifetime

I do wonder if we have got the most miserable and grumpy fans in the entire country? They can even suck the life out of christmas, as well as wins and good performances.
Wonder if its a geographical thing.
Anyway, wish we had even a couple of supporters who were happy as this.

I guess you're right about once the kids fly the nest. Suppose there's always hope of them returning with the grandchildren one day but then, I had my children quite late in life so will probably be pushing up blue & white hooped daisies by the time that's a prospect
