Agree entirely about making it bonus related - if he will agree - but to those who dont want him i wd simply ask what Prem proven striker wd they like who is likely to want to come to us and we can afford?

Sad thing is Defoe was never even that good, he wastes more than he scores and does NOTHIGN for the team. Would rather play Austin & Bobby than him.
      Are you being serious ????
Possibly one of the most natural instinctive goalscorer that has graced the premiership over the last 10 years !

I hope Harry signs him with Tony's support. Exactly the kind of player we need more of - past it and expensive.

Exactly, but we've seen it so many times before. A player comes in and spends most of the time injured on big wages, we need something in place so it a good deal for the club, not just the player.

We all know he can score but 90K?

I've always been a fan of Defoe's ability but are we going to keep making the same mistakes over and over again - signing ageing former stars who are past their best and just looking for a final payday? If true this deal is crazy and would show that we have learned NOTHING over the last few years.

What are we going to do, put Charlie on the bench? Or bring in a bench warmer on 90K per week? Crazy. We should be looking for another target man in the mould of BZ so that Charlie can get the service he needs. Vargas is a good alternative when Charlie is out.

Edit: Also, we need to get our wage bill under control and this is NOT the way to do it!

90 k a week is f uckin stupid money , just think he`d earn in a month what Weare earns in a year , how is that right ? FFS.

We've been shown in the summer its mostly made up press talk, not sure why everyone is so up in arms? Ferdinand came at significantly reduced wages despite what was quoted. Krancjar cut his by a third or more? I trust TF/HR will negotiate a good deal for the club.

Typical press garbage where they know the kind of money he's been on before and just hash together a piece with similar figures. I recall reading an article when we were trying to sign him in the August window that said he was prepared to take a significant pay cut to come back and play in the PL.
Ok, that's press too so not 100% gospel but it kind of fits with what Nico did and with the new pattern of deals we have been doing.
As for him as a signing, well he's averaged a goal every other game for years and years, goals keep you up in this league, so what's not to like?

He has been suffering a lot of injuries over the last 2-3 yrs, his hamstrings are an issue I believe.

He score goals, but 90k a week is way too much to be true. Half of that is more likely

If we offer him 3 years deal with £80-90K a week he will turn into another SWP.

I would sign him for one year with view to renew in case he performs and doesn't pick up a serious injury just like what we did to Richard Dunne.
