Nobody knows for certain JM and we probably never will. It took a long time before we even concluded that there WAS still a release clause! Whatever the case, one thing we do know for certain is that they are getting him for a song.Originally posted by jmelanie View PostI am confused about the release clause. The media (including BBC and The Telegraph) are quoting a fee of 10.5 million. Is it possible the fee went up after the season started?
Losing Remy really hurts our squad IMHO. Today was very encouraging, but what happens when Charlie is out? You need a bit of depth and even with Remy we were a bit light up front. Without him, there is a gaping hole.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.

Well I wonder if Vargas was brought in as Remy's like for like replacement. I think everyone at the club did expect Remy to go to be honest. If you have a proven goalscorer with a cheap release clause you can't really plan on them staying, can you?Originally posted by dsqpr View PostNobody knows for certain JM and we probably never will. I'm guessing they are mixing up their Pounds and Euros. Not difficult to imagine a newspaper getting it wrong.Originally posted by jmelanie View PostI am confused about the release clause. Harry was the one who said he thought it was 8 and he was pleasantly surprised that it was higher. Or so I have read.

Oh. The article I read said "a club official". If it was a reporter, it was probably bowlarks then.Originally posted by Dazzer1977 View PostA reporter said it was £10.5m in Harry's post match press conference to with he replied "oh £10.5m of great deal then, sell him" in a tongue and cheek manner.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp just told me Remy was due to play today & then there was a phone call from Chelsea at 12 noon & the fee will be £10m
The French papers are also reporting 12 million Euros (which is about 10 m). They seem to think that is a good deal for us, so maybe they know something we don't. Sorry off on a cruise with my DH, don't have time to translate.
