And if he signs a new contract does this mean the release clause is null and void, new contract and all?

Can't see him signing a contract personally unless it's for crazy money & knowing us it probably is.
Can only be to take out the clauses nothing else as he's ours for another couple of seasons at a least.

And why would he do that then....?
He wouldn't have signed in the first place without the clause as wants to ultimately play champions league, and being a France International who could blame him. By removing the clause it lessens that chance as teams would have to pay market rate transfer fee for him, so the carrot to re-sign would need to be more money. Works for us in the long term anyway so its a bit short sighted to say "sign or fark off". If he stays, he's the best hope of getting the goals we need to stay in the prem, and if he ends up being sold we'd get better money for him. What's not to like?Comment

I don't think money is the reason Remy would stay. He wants to play in Europe and will hold out till the very last minute if it means there's a chance 1 of the big club signing him... Personally I'd imagine TF has already approached him with a big money contract but Remy made it clear he wouldn't sign anything until after the transfer window.
