We all need a bit of a morale booster, players/fans/coaching staff.
And playing an under strength side, and possibly bowing out of the cup to a league one/two side, will probably lower morale further. Not good before Sunderland on Saturday.
The danger in that is playing the same side and getting turned over, that won't do a lot for confidence either. That was why he said 'unfortunately we have a game Wednesday' , a real dilemma

Well, if Burton Albion manage to beat a full-strength Rangers side, at least there'll be little doubt that we do have something to worry about.

Surprised he said "unfortunately". We have players who are not match fit and play like strangers. He should want to get out there and put it right.

He has to take the blame for this dreadful performance, he picks the team, Dunne looks slower than milk turning, and should never play in a 3 again, don't think the system works they don't know who they're meant to be picking up offers far too much space to the other team, 2 full backs who don't know how to stop crosses into the box a. Totally inept midfield Barton,Fer as for Mutch forgot he was even out there? Phillips had a great chance to level but went for a spectacular chip instead of just placing the ball past the keeper, the premiership is very unforgiving you have to take your chances, and you get punished when your poor,
          Harry go back to 442

We can make all the excuses in the world, the fact is it's been a poor start. 2 games, 2 defeats, 0 goals. He now has a secondary challenge of repairing damaged confidence. Making a decent start is vital in this unforgiving league.
