Even the reported wages he's on with us is not high by any stretch of the imagination compared to the top end clubs. The likes of Rooney and RVP for example are on about £250k/week. Also you mention it's only a low transfer fee, but a striker of that standing in the market would go for £15-20m so the saving on fee covers wages for about 2 years anyway, possibly longer.

Remy leaving will depend on the truth of his collapsed move to Liverpool. If it's a medical problem then I think he'll be here until January. The only team I can see signing him is Spurs and Levy will not pay 11 million and 80k a week if he's got a dodgy ticker or whatever. I think he'll be here but it would be nice to get the clauses removed!

Will Levy pay 11m and 80k a week period?Originally posted by Mattyqpr View PostRemy leaving will depend on the truth of his collapsed move to Liverpool. Exactly.Originally posted by Kevin Mcleod View PostStill worlds apart from playing for us though. (im sad to say)
Plus they are renound for buying cheap and selling high to better clubs in the CL so Remy's advisors may be highlighting this and he might fancy it.... I mean they have a recent history with the likes of Sheringham, Carrick, Modric, Bale etc etc etc

Sadly we are entirely passive in this. The only way he wd agree to a new contract - minus escape clause - would be if we pay him even more money. It might still be worth it rather than lose him for 8 or 11 million, but it wont come for free.
Realistically the club just has to keep another striker on the back burner - like the icelandic bloke - and be prepared to bring in another striker on deadline day.

Is a bit of a crap situation. Looking at it from a lawyer viewpoint what we should have done is agreed the various clauses but on the basis that any move has to be concluded no less than 2 weeks before the end of any given transfer window failing which we can block any move until next window. For us, losing Remy, with our lack of other striking options, would be disastrous if a late window deal. Not a criticism of the club as I don't think any other club does this but would seem sensible. Of course he might have told us where to go had that been suggested!

Totally agree with this. The only way we are going to keep him if anyone else comes in is offering him even more stupid dough.Originally posted by stainrodisalegend View PostSadly we are entirely passive in this. To be fair, for all we know there could be some sort of clause in the agreement i guess, but the concern without knowing is that there probably isnt, we plan for him to stay to then get gazumped last minute and too late to do anything about it. Subsequently struggle between now and Jan with restricted striking options and as a result potentially overplay Austin who could pick up an injury as a result to compound the situation.... come January our plight could be ominous and then struggle to attract talent......Originally posted by FurtiveFox View PostIs a bit of a crap situation. Serious post here, it is looking highly likely we have got sigthorsson and fer coming in this week. What else position wise do people who want players players players think we need?
Or would these two with rio and caulker do us if that is how we went into the season?
I think we would be okay with these two added, but would obviously like a couple more.
P.s oh and i forgot, weve also got jack rodwell on loan.

Im really confident by the whispers from the countries where the players come from, and even more confident because we HAVE to sign new players and these two have been our main targets for nearly a month now. I really think both are done like caulker was, but its that time and tape shite again till they are announced.Originally posted by Nick View PostWhy so confident on us signing Sigthorsson and Fer and also on us getting Rodwell on loan????
