I know he has brought a lot of this on himself what with his previous. But seems to me the refs can't wait to book him. Also oppo deliberately try & get him booked IMHO.

Win the next 4 games (Wigan, Blackpool, Bournemouth & Blackburn) 12 points
Beat Notts Forest at home ending their hopes of extending the season, watch Billy Davies through his hands in the air in disgust & get sacked. Joey laughs in his face, picks up a booking, meaning he'll miss 3 games. Leicester (probably lose anyway) then Watford & Millwall at home, which should both be winnable without him.
Returns for Barnsley away, just to get back into competative football and in case we need 3 points to finish in a position to play the easiest team to beat (ie. avoid Wigan).
Then free & fit for Playoffs.
      Simples.
Sounds like a plan to me.

His reputation unfortunately will always precede him, referees always too happy to book / send him off.

Too true, massive double standards if Joey had grabbed someone by the throat like tha 'Boro bar steward he would have been off faster than a foolham fan after a Chablis
