Spurs set to spend big to win race for Loic Remy (Express)

Newcastle appear to be out of the running when it comes to hammering out a permanent transfer.

They are aware the player fancies a return to London and a fee in the region of £16 million could prove too expensive.

But Spurs are willing to meet the asking price as they search for more goals after allowing Jermain Defoe to move to the MLS with Toronto FC.

Apparently Remy has been having meetings recently with representatives of Arsenal.
Could be a battle between the 2.
Would expect the fee to be £20million Mark though.
I think Remy would join either, so it's down to us really to broker a good deal.

Personally, I would try and do a deal with Arsenal now.
Cash Fee plus some decent youngsters in exchange.

Hate France but Remy has a great World Cup and it could turn into a bidding war.

If this report is to be believed, £16m should be the minimum starting price for bids, hopefully reaching £20m.

Who's the genius on here who said he'd be happy to take £10m for Remy? Glad he's not running the club...
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I was saying it to the lads down the pub yesterday. Remy is a 20m player, and if spurs can spend 28m on Soldado then they can dig deep for Remy!

A great point Soldado unproven in prem = 28m surely Remy who has demonstrated in two seasons he can walk the walk in this division should go for an equal price if not more

Let's start the bidding at around 25 mill .... I'm sick of our decent players being sold over the years at well below market value ..

Time to cash in big on our Loic .... Proven top 5 prem striker at his peak lets not under sell him ..

16-20 mil would be a giveaway

16 mil is a good price, also add in the 2 mil loan that newcastle paid. thats 18 mil. more than doubled our money.

How do you work that out - Top premiership striker for 16 mil ....... I'd pay that..

It has nothing to do with doubling or tripling our money..Its all about getting the maximum return for one of our better assets

Appreciate that Suarez is somewhat a better player than LR, but if Remy is valued at 16 mill, that puts Suarez at around 25mil.. would you say???

                Yeah rite

Would love to have Townsend back mate, but the chances of that are thin, especially if we don't go up, I say definitely try and squeeze that Levy for every penny though!

Remy has 13 goals in 23 appearances for Newcastle so far this season: http://www.soccerbase.com/players/pl...layer_id=45647

If Soldado is worth £28m then Remy is certainly in that ballpark. At £15m you're having a laugh.

Townsend has gone up the pecking order now, he won't be coming back to us.
