While I am happy that he performs on the pitch, I don't care about his verbal pitches. And I definitely won't pay a penny to listen to him or any other footballer's official talks

I think you'll find his verbal pitches are as important in the dressing room/training ground as his performances are on the pitch.

A week is a long time in football, let alone a year

Like you, I'd doubt his sincerity too if I hadn't watched the full 7 minute interview. But you just have to look into his eyes and listen to how passionately he speaks to realise his sincerity and the ring of truth to it.

And as Nick says, his influence is certainly important around the training ground/dressing room.
