People will be attracted by the money offered and generally wouldn't give two hoots about the nature of the owner....

Some Italian clubs have had mafia links and Real Madrid are funded by the Government, who if anything like most others are corrupt by default... not done them much harm.

Have to agree there's alot of petty rubbish being spouted here, with people simply hoping that FB goes because they don't like various things being done at QPR.

There's plenty being done I don't like at the club, and plenty that I do. It'll be the same amongst fans at 100% of clubs up and down the land, FACT.

How do people think Abramovich made his money? The Saudis? The Russian buying up Arsenal, a club regarded by many as an example of doing things the right way? How many of these people's money has BLOOD tainting it? It would be naive to think they'e made all this money without breaking laws and having a callous disregard for the lives of others.

In the great scheme of things, if these guys are fit and proper to run a football club, then FB has nothing to worry about. F1 races have been fixed to obtain certain results for decades, whether it's drivers following team orders and not passing one another, or Schumacher deliberately driving Damon Hill off the road to ensure he won a world title. It's a contrived event somehow dressed as "sport", and for their governing authoritie sto be devloping a conscience over such things now is a bit rich.

Lambast FB over what he does at our club if you like, but PLEASE don't develop a sudden interest in the rights and wrongs of F1 in order to fuel or justify your dislike of him. To do so is simply "spin", and I'm sure most of those complaining about him would include that as one of their main reasons for disliking what is happening at the club.

To be honest ... WTF is all the fuss about? F1 has been corrupt for years with team orders ... spying etc and most mega wealthy people are not whiter than white. just look at the **** that owns the **** ... he is still there ... the little fella that owns harrods still owns a football team ... If we were flying high in the league and the boards promises were being delivered who would care?

but if he goes and mittall takes a control in the club I would be happy ... but not willing to say its beacuse of this ... because I like most of you if you are honest .. dont care

Could it not be possible, that Piquet is lying, and that because Renault have refused to back Briatore due to their inability to actually prove his lies in a court of law, Briatore feels that their lack of support casts him in such a bad light that he felt the need to resign ?

As far as being guilty of anything goes, the only person to have admitted to any wrongdoing as far as I can see so far, is Piquet. But it appears that you are happy to accept the version of events from the one person who HAS done something wrong. If he cheated and acted in an extremely dangerous manner, which is his claim, then he should get a lifetime ban. If he didn't and is telling lies, he should get a lifetime ban.

I am not saying Briatore is innocent or guilty, I have no idea, but I think it would be more appropriate to know the full facts first before coming to such a conlusion. Unless of course it has something to do with the fact that you don't like him.

brightonr - It has not to do with liking him, if he did nothing wrong, why did he quit. Renault have accepted all charges and will not contesting them, they have accepted the driver was told to crash.

Flavio didnt resign, he was sacked by Renault.....

Piquet could be lying, it could've all been completely innocent and he just decided to make himself completely unemployable in motor sport for a petty squabble,

Pat Symonds could be a psychic who brought Alonso in ahead of schedule as he figured it only a matter of time before Piquet binned it

the FIA could be spending millions of pounds convening a special meeting at short notice without any evidence and on the back of Piquets say alone,

the (and i quote Max Mosley) "irregular" radio chat and telemetry could all be a coincedence,

Renault may have sacked Symonds and Briatore and decide not to defend the charges - knowing how catastrophic it would be for their reputation - feeling the accusations were nonsense

Symonds could've refused to co-operate with the FIA in the belief that the accusations were so ludicrous they didnt warrant answering....

or......

Flavio and Symonds were bang to rights and subsequently sacked by Renault in the desperate hope of saving their reputation with the massive penalty coming their way...

i know which one any sensible person wold believe...

Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds have stepped down from their posts after Renault decided not to dispute allegations that the team ordered former driver Nelson Piquet Junior to crash deliberately at last year's Singapore grand prix.

Renault are due to appear before a meeting of the FIA world motor sport council on Monday which will convene in Paris to discuss what penalties should be imposed on the team as a result of the race crash.

In a statement Renault said: "The Renault team will not dispute the recent allegations made by the FIA concerning the 2008 Singapore grand prix." "It also wishes to state that its managing director Flavio Briatore and its executive director of engineering Pat Symonds have left the team. Before attending the hearing before the FIA world motor sport council in Paris on 21 September the team will be making no further comment."

Jamie, Simple truth is we don't know.

But, if you have an opinion of someone before any of this, in your eyes he is gulity before proven innocence.

its called "stabing the guy in the back", because it sort of compliments your prinicpials on the man.

As, I said I'm actually not a great fan of him personally, but if you are unhappy with the job he is doing at QPR, it will have a bearing on feelings regarding this affair.

There are plenty of people in F1 who believe he has taken his opportunity to exact revenge for his defeat. After all, Briatore was one of the hawks in that battle - to the point that Mosley was moved to describe him as a "loony".

There is also the other option.... I don't know him, he might be a lovely bloke, it's not about whether I like him or not... it's about whether I think he's done a good job for QPR since the takeover.
