One reason I think, and this has been touched upon, is the proximity of the away fans from vocal home fans. I've been sitting in X block for the last few games and will be there for Reading and Leeds. If we could get a more vocal core there, I think that could effect the atmosphere. I've also noticed empty seats, though not at the Leicester game and am not sure why people don't sit there. Regarding singing, I never feel confident enough to start a song, but I always join in. We don't have to be like the Holmesdale Fanatics or the Clapton Ultras (I think they're more political, might not catch on, who knows?) but hopefully something loud, aggressive and uniquely QPR.
thanks for that joe90 but you were always a c @nt compered to thunderbirds.

'Famous in Germany'? If it was - and it aint, the Palarse Ultras would be famous for being a bunch of limp wristed teen queens and wannabe 40 something villians!

atmosheres at grounds overall have got quieter for a long time so it is nothing particular to any one club.
but skillful exciting winning football cranks up the noise, do that regular and you can buck the trend to some extent - look at anfield yesterday, watched it on tv that place was rocking, of course LR has a smaller capacity but its the same principle, basically the best atmoshpheres emerges naturally from the crowd in response to the game.

Not every game is going to be like that though and there is going to be matches where we are 2-1 down and playing awful. The players feed off of the crowd wether we are up 5-0 or down 5-0. We need all the atmosphere we can get at LR these days. I see people on here bashing the whole concept which is ridiculous just becaue of the name 'Ultra' - The original post says that the Ultra name is ridiculous but the concept of a large scale group of fans singing on mass, almost orchestrated for the entire 90 minutes is a great idea, named or not.
Selhurst is brilliant for atmosphere right now, mainly because of that section of fans. The Loft as a home end has been ruined by a 'Family Section' that should have been placed somewhere else in the SA Road Stand. The club should make that a safe standing section.

Football stadiums have got quieter due to pubs putting there prices up and the ticket prices going up. It's not as affordable to have a lot of beers before the game and ten fork out for a ticket. The best way of improving the atmosphere at loftus road now is for everyone that wants to be vocal to move to the most vacant part of the ground. Xblock works.... Why not have a try at it? Yeovil at home ( not likely to fill it early) everyone who wants to be part of trying to improve the atmosphere move there ticket to there and let's have a go?

I find the idea of 'ultras' a bit cringeworthy but there is nothing wrong with a designated singing area. I think it's a great idea.

Sorry ,but dressing like a blue and white Christmas tree ,isnt compulsory to support your club . If you grew up with Casual culture in the 80s or beyond wearing colours is a no no .
Nothing against people who do ,but its not for all of us.

Whole ground needs to make more noise, seems like everyone can't be bothered or are too scared to.
"When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

the only whole ground in London that makes noise is White Hart Lane , we will never have that
