If my memory serves me right,Hull pulled out of a deal for Charlie Austin over a failed medical (old leg injury) just prior to us signing him for £4m.Good old Harry took a chance on him and what a signing he's turned out to be.Rather ironic really seeing as Hull have Jelavic,Long and Graham in their ranks and still lost to Naaarrrrich.

Kind of disagree with this statement. Hardly a game when you look at his record...Originally posted by geejaybee View PostIf my memory serves me right, Hull pulled out of a deal for Charlie Austin over a failed medical (old leg injury) just prior to us signing him for £4m. He's played a total of 301 games over 7 years and scored 193 goals in total. That's approx 43 games a season, with a goal to game ratio of 0.65 goals per game. At that rate he should score 27.95 goals a season. Only question mark was can he score goals at the top level, but we're not there yet, and he's proved he can do it at this level with Burnley - 45 goals in 90 appearances. Great stats if you ask me and hardly a gamble for us. He's a workaholic and a natural finisher.Last edited by Dazzer1977; 19-01-2014, 12:57 PM.

Couldn't agree with you more.At the time,Harry felt, unlike Hull,Charlie wasn't a gamble and how right he was. He's up there with the best CF's we've had, particularly bearing in mind he plays alone up front most of the time.Originally posted by Dazzer1977 View PostKind of disagree with this statement. Quite right Buffalo, that's what I meant. His record speaks for itself, and still knocking them in at a rate of a goal every other game.Originally posted by Buffalo View PostI thought the OP was saying that Harry took a chance in terms of Charlie's medical, not whether he would scored goals.

Like you,I think they would have been great together.Charlie cost around £4m I believe.Originally posted by ollyhoops View PostAustin has been great for us and too be honest without him we'd be 14th.
Its just a shame we couldn't had bought Wells to play along side him as I think they would had been a great combination.
How much did Austin cost us?

And I think if you look at the amount of games he's played averaging out per season (43) his injury record don't seem that bad. Hardly anywhere Matthew Rose's stats (aka The Glass Man).Originally posted by Buffalo View PostI thought the OP was saying that Harry took a chance in terms of Charlie's medical, not whether he would scored goals.
