When they have him stood alongside others like Lukaku and Mirallas, they are bound to look on him unfavourably. When we get him alongside BZ and co., he will look like Messi.

Taking the emotion out of it, I think with a good run in the side he could do very well at this level.

This signing doesn't excite me one bit, listening to Everton fans on the radio saying he is one of the worst strikers they've seen at the club for a long while, poor first touch especially, wouldn't want to be paying 5mil

Been saying for days what a donkey he is. Lad at work, who's off to the match today, is an Everton fan and said they'd be amazed if they could get £2m for him as he's absolute pants.

Pal of mine ST holder at Everton reckons he is a decent player on his day even at PL level. Wants rid of him, mind, said he has more bad games than good in the PL, but at Championship level he would be a great player.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I don't think we should pay more than 3m for him on a 18 month deal.

18 month deal is bad business as we more or less loose our money within 6months as he can leave for a free at the end of next season

What if he turns out to be a disaster, at least we can shift him and try bringing someone else in.

If he does well then we can say that we'll offer him a better deal and a new contract if he reaches our targets.

But if hes good it would make sense for him to reject any contract and see what else is offered to him.

Would be better off paying a smaller loan fee and just getting him until the end of the season

Which is why I would only loan him initially.

I've not read the Everton link referred to above which does sound a worry but we're a Champs club not a Prem one which is closer to SPL standard and if he's really that bad we could send him back.
To be fair some of our fans think BAE is no good at this level which beggars belief in my mind.

Sadly, I can't see Long coming to us, he's Hull bound or similar I fear.

I think we've signed enough crocked players rotting in the reserves of top teams. Let's sign some decent young lads from the lower divisions or this division.

As already posted, Martinez has flatly refused all requests to loan him and has said it has to be a purchase of forget it. Often not possible to do the deal that most suits the Rs, in Jan with our scoring record we are beggers, not choosers.

Totally agree. Dare people to read this, it will give you nightmares, it did me last night.

Yeah and we wanted to offload Granero, M'bia, Park and Cesar but it ain't that easy. Come late January, Everton & Martinez may consider other options.

I'd rather stay in the Champs than spend another £3.5m on an 18 months contract if there's doubts over his ability.
