In the squad, I know he wasn't the most skillful but he brought something different to the team, just an opinion.

Other then energy what does he add?? Effort is not something this side lacks so don't see how someone else running around and not creating anything would benefit us currently when were all crying out for someone to take the bull by the horns and go for a teams throatComment

Whilst I don't think Mackie is a particularly good player he is decent enough for this league. Given the lack of attacking options in the squad selling Mackie was not a good idea.
For starters, he has done more for Forest than Hoilett has done for QPR. I think Phillips is a better player and will prove it once he is played in a more attacking formation.Comment

I don't think players like Mackie or Philips are the answer. Neither are good enough, so running around aimlessly is not going to get us promoted alone. mackie spent most of the time running the wrong way, leaving no one up front sometimes to pass when we had the ball...yet all some people see is that he was running a lot. He lacks quality.Whilst I don't think Mackie is a particularly good player he is decent enough for this league. Given the lack of attacking options in the squad selling Mackie was not a good idea.

He also left when it became apparent he wouldn't be first choice, instead of fighting for his place.I don't think players like Mackie or Philips are the answer. Mackie up front would have been our solution the last 3-4 games but although I love the lad I cannot see Harry playing him ahead of Junior and Philliphs. If I recall correctly 'Arry preferred SWP to Mackie last year too.Comment

I really started to dislike Mackies style of play when he tried to be a hero every week beating 4 men & then running in to a crowd of players 10 times a match & was not sorry to see him go. BUT this season was probably the season we could of utilized him a little better against inferior opposition.

Dont get me wrong, I don't rate Mackie as a good player, but he is looking like a better option than Hoilett.
All Hoilett seems to be doing is trying to cut inside on his right foot to shoot...and more often than not miss the target or hit his shot at the defender!
In the Summer, Redknapp sold Mackie, along with releasing almost every other attacking player and has not really replaced them. Leaving the squad with just Austin and two injury prone strikers unlikley to play 15 full games between them along with Hoilett Phillips for the attack was a mistake.Comment

He lifted the crowd and may have been an example to others to others to out that but extra in, skill wise no, but it takes all sorts to make a team.Kept the faith!Comment

When you say Mackie lacks quality, what do you mean by that? What exactly does he lack? Saying 'he lacks quality' is a bit of generalisation and doesn't really tell us much.I don't think players like Mackie or Philips are the answer.
