Harry should trust one of own youngsters. If Hitchcock is given a chance and we will miss out on promotion, he will be ready for next season. The experienced gained will be in our favour, unlike Carroll, who will return to Spurs if he shows any signs (which he isn't at the moment!) of improvement.
