Planning ahead

We need to start planning on the pitch because we clearly haven't started yet.

Off the field it's great, TF is a cracking guy who is planning new stadium, training ground and new ways of generating revenue.

On the field we have ageing players, players with nothing to prove and worst of all we don't have a football philosophy. What is our style of play? We also have a manager with vast experience but is also on the wrong end of 60. Naturally his eye is on the short term plan, of which I fail to see one.

I've been involved in grass roots football since 2008, running a now U10 team in the Herts area and also scouted part time for one of the prem teams. I've had 4 players signed by academies in this time as well. One of the better U8 sides two years back had 3 players go to QPR so I can vouch for massively improved youth development at our club. This is getting better all the time so we are in safe hands looking to 2020 and beyond. There will certainly be another Sterling and with our new found owners and cash we will likely keep these players too.

So, back to onto the pitch and the medium term plan. The next 5 years is where we need to start properly planning IMO. I don't believe it's too hard and looking at our squad now feel we need 4-5 players. A CB, LB, CM and 2 forwards. Young british talent to move forward with. This is where we have to start planning now.

The long term is bright. To make the long term a certainty we have to get the short and medium plans in place! Thoughts?

Would love to see youngsters pushing forward and reach the starting line up.
Sadly Arry doesn't give own youth the chance.
It's not his philosophy and in doing so he doesn't improve the talents.

Some times i wish we had a manager like Van Gaal who produces excellent football with up and coming youngsters.
He gives them youngsters confidence in their abilities and many will shine under his regime.

For those of you too young to remember this chap in the hoops, an 18 yeard old appeared out of no where.
He scored a hat trick on his debut if I recall and his career never looked back.
His name was Clive Allen. I really hope we can find another like him.
The youth can play a big part in our club's fortune's. They are keen, fit, and not slow or injury prone!

TF's ambitions may have something to do with this. Harry's remit is to get us up first time. As a manager, would you go with older proven players or untested new boys?
There has been no talk from TF about building a younger team over two or three seasons. Which is a shame in one way as regarding our own youth player's chances. Hopefully their time will come in the prem which would be a big ask?

No because he doesn't believe in our youngsters and also contradicting himself. Strangely he loaned Hitchcock out while we lack strikers and yet brought a youngster from Spurs (Carroll).

Every team in the Championship give their youngsters a chance, including those that leapfrogged us! What's the point in bringing big names in when they are half as good as once where?
