I always thought it was Sir Les Ferdinand. And thats how i sung it along with others who sat near me. But sounds likely it started with Say

Deepcut's right. Incenzo misheard the song and reported it in the press as Sir Leslie.
Everyone round me however still sung Say Leslie.

First time it was sung was at home to Millwall in 89 can't remember the lads names that started it in the Lower loft , the week after it took off more at palace away on Wilkins debut then the week after
