If a fee hasn't been agreed already, then of course the better he plays, the more power we'll have in any fee negotiations.

Everyone is speculating wildly at the moment, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a release clause built into his contract from the very start to provide security for Loic, to prevent him from having to play for us in the Championship. It would be very hard to imagine him signing for us in the first place without something along those lines tbf. Apart from several very large shed loads of cash in wages.

i don't think there's a buy-clause in there, but even if there is, newcastle are unlikely to stump the level of wages that we're supposedly paying remy. they made a big deal of getting rid of their big earners - given, barton, carroll, nolan etc a few years back and are now supposed to be using a wage cap of around £50k a week. that's (allegedly) a big drop from what we're supposed to stump up.
