  • Faurlin playing in an advanced role

WTF is that all about, its not his position he should be sat in front of the back four but instead the Spurs 'wonderkid' is there.

I'm not saying he had a bad game yesterday but he was largely ineffective. The match was screaming out for Hoilett to come on and once he did we scored.

Faurlin won't get goals and is much better in a deeper role. I am baffled as most spurs fans I know thought caroll would be played just off the front man. If we revert to 442 at home which I think we should I can't see caroll getting in. At the moment I have concerns that harry is fitting things around carroll with regards to formation and team selection. I know holliet has been injured but you start him and then take him off. More chance of him pulling something coming off the bench
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Carroll is being played deeper so he basically gets more time on the ball as its clear when he is under pressure he fluffs his lines. Lots of side ways passing and back to the keeper but he isn't very direct is Carroll

I think Harry wants to play 1 up top with 2 wide men, and 3 in midfield, that 3 being Carroll , Barton and when fit Kranjcar, he wants kranjcar in a advanced role with Barton and Carroll more deep lying. Cant see Faurlin fitting in when everyone is fit, think he will be the one to interchange with Kranjcar.

Carroll is and always has been a deep lying, central midfield playmaker in the mould of Pirlo, Xavi or Modric (although obviously not as good). Dunno where this idea that he would play off the front man came from because that has never been his position.

Agree with regards to Faurlin though, offers nothing playing further up the field.

I think Harry's tactics are flood the midfield with players that are good on the ball, keep possession and wear the opposition down and then bring on wingers later on in the game when the opposition are knackered. Makes for a frustrating first half but it's worked like a treat in the last 2 games!

I would imagine Carroll plays deep so that he has the benefit of seeing the movement ahead of him before playing the pass.
