He scored in his one game for us this year and is banging them in for the reserves. If now is not the time to give the lad a try, then he's never getting in. Which, given our recent preference for uninterested and unfit strikers, is somewhat of a shame.

Austin and Hitchcock are both poachers who score from crosses or knock downs. Can't play them together for 90 minutes every game imo. Too similar, we need a big target man.

Well personally the thought of Crouch or Carlton Cole as big target men over a young kid who knows where the goal is terrifies and depresses me. But each to their own.

Well I'd dispute very well indeed. He's working hard for sure, wouldn't go much further than that right now.

I'd have Tom on the bench, and either bring him on for Charlie or heaven forbid actually play two up front for a bit. Instead of not even taking him on matchday and saying you only have one striker.

If he brought Defoe in (never happening but lets go with the rumour mill for now) Would you therefore drop Austin and just have Defoe up there? I'd be playing both for sure. And if we follow the similar players thing then that means Tom basically never plays for us, as we have Charlie?

I would see Charlie dropped for Willem in a heart beat, would be harsh, but a no brainer.

Well I guess we just fundamentally dis-agree on the tactics then. Having Defoe up there and our multi-million pound striker on the bench, because they are deemed similar players and we can only play one type of them, seems barking to me. And so does not even taking Hitchcock to matches.
