the worst type of loss i think is when you go 2 0 down ,come back to 2 2 then end up losing 3 2 . Sunderland at home a couple of seasons ago.

Multiple goal loss to a lower league team at home in a cup is about as bad as it gets for me.

At least in the league there are 46 matches and when you lose one you can still bounce back and win the next week. In the cup there are no second chances.
