For good reason.

Apart from getting 2 teams to the CL Final, the business model followed by most of the Bundesliga clubs is something we can only dream about in England. Apart from fans still being trusted to stand on terraces, and to drink beer while watching the match, prices at most clubs start around 10 Euros, or even less if you buy a season ticket. And most of the players in the Bundesliga are actually German, which is why their national team will go from strength to strength while England's decline will continue.

About 12-15 years ago, Germany had slipped right down. Even England beat them at a tournament. The authorities drew up a plan and implemented it. What we are seeing now is the result of that plan. Compare that with the FA, and their contempt for fans, as witnessed by the FA Cup and the use of Wembley, and their subservience to SkyTV and the cancer of football agents.

But everyone knows the foreigners in our game are here because this is the cradle of football and so they feel they must play here, and if any poor sod dare pipe up up that maybe the national
team might get better if we had less would be lambasted as racist, bigoted, sexist, homophobic,xenophobic,claustrophobic and agoraphobic

I'm not disagreeing at all - their football system is far superior to ours. Just pointing out the media are proper brown nosing em recently.

The ticket prices including transport for say £99 is unbelievable and the fact that the mindset in Germany is that a football club isn't just a rich mans toy but an integral part of the makeup of the local community, resulting in the 50 + 1 rule they have where members (season ticket holders) must own the majority share, so any outside investor like we have at ours, city, Chelsea, utd etc can only own 49% of the club.
Plus the youth acedemys are proper set up with licenses and have sanctions if they don't comply, thus what we saw on Saturday was basically the German national team that have come up via the acedemy system.
Can't see it happening here though as TV money is so powerful, plus powerful figures own our clubs so don't want to let go. Also Germany are use to local rules and being governed municipally.
Imagine the supporters owning 51% of QPR we would all start arguing and have EGMS in the White Horse and decision making would based on who could recite the name of every episode of the Sweeney, name the song at the house party in Quadrophenia and the decider would be name 5 page 3 girls from circa 1984 to 1989 not including Sam fox or Linda luzardi.

Only one problem, the Bundesliga is one of the most uncompetitive leagues in the world, it's even worse than the SPL in terms of gaps between teams. Bayern won by 25 points this season and Dortmund are getting rid of their best players so it's unlikely to get any better.

Agree German model is far from perfect as some lower league clubs in perilous financial trouble and wasn't that long ago that bayern bailed Dortmund out of trouble or something.
The big issue that German football does well is to bring the club/local council and supporters closer, huge disconnect here between fanbase and clubs/council from huge ticket prices and general struggle in getting to games whether it be games listed due to tv commitments and public transport always being shut down on match games or as what happened to us as soon as we get promoted the Council's first reaction was to either make more parking available or put in stricter peaking controls round the ground? Eh the latter of course ....

I don't often post on here but sometimes I read such unadulterated rubbish that I have to reply!

There have been 5 different winners of the Bundesliga in the past 10 years (Bayern, Bremen, Dortmund, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg) - so how can it be uncompetitive?

Or did you just decide to base your comments on one season because that's the only season you know about?

Before kick off I think that's actually quite a few and when you watch the clip there could easily have been 200+ nicked so whats your point???

I thought my point was pretty clear: 13 arrests out of 90,000 spectators plus who knows how many without tickets isn't that many.

Correct but 200+ clearly having a ruck as seen on the clip could have resulted in 200+ nicked before kick off if there had been more plod so the figure of 13 is actually irrelevant to your argument

True but with Bayern romping it this year and Dortmund flogging their best players to em, hardly looks like the gaps going to been closed anytime soon? Bayern will be like Celtic in the SPL for the foreseeable future, guaranteed.

I don't think UEFA will so anything with only 13 arrests - no matter how many arrests people think there should have been.
And I doubt they would have done something with 13 arrests if 2 English teams had been involved.
